Trading Spaces star and working mom Genevieve Gorder is helping schools across America earn cash [Video]
(BPT) - Genevieve Gorder has graced television screens with her soulful interior designs on TLC and HGTV. But her most important role is as mom to her 9-year-old daughter. With her daughter currently in elementary school, Gorder sees how challenging it can be for schools to find funds for important supplies. The General Mills Box Tops for Education program has bridged this gap for more than 20 years, helping K-8 schools earn more than $840 million for books, technology and more. Yet, a large number of Box Tops still go unclipped.
To combat this trend, the design star has joined the time-honored program to rally local communities to raise more money than ever during “National Box Tops for Education Week” Sept. 24–30. In a neighborhood clipping drive — one of the activities schools in your area may be taking part in during this special week — Gorder helped her hometown collect 7,000 Box Tops, almost matching the school’s total earnings from the previous year in just one day.
