Wisconsin Uses Block Grant Funding To Improve Mental Health Through Community Partnership
With funding from the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant, Wisconsin supported the Burnett County health department, in partnership with the local medical center, to conduct a community health assessment, host a community forum, prioritize health needs, and begin work on the county’s top health priority: mental health. Forum participants formed the “Healthy Burnett†coalition to launch mental health initiatives, including a campaign to reduce the stigma of mental health issues and a suicide prevention training program for high school students, teachers, and community members.
