Nevada Uses Block Grant Funding To Help Low-Income Residents Fight High Blood Pressure and Heart Disease
In Nevada, low-income residents living in areas with too few primary care providers are twice as likely to have high blood pressure compared to the general population. With funding from the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant, the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health partnered with Nevada Health Centers to pilot a free Self-Monitoring Blood Pressure Program for low-income and rural residents-helping patients keep their blood pressure under control between doctor visits.
