ARNOLD F. SOCK, Attorney At Law Opines On: California Attorney Helmed Two Pump-And-Dump Schemes, Jury Told (Securities and Exchange Commission v. Jehu Hand and Antonio Katz, Civil Action No. 1:15-cv-14109 (D. Mass. Dec. 10, 2015)),
Federal prosecutors told a Massachusetts jury Wednesday that a California attorney masterminded two separate pump-and-dump schemes that unloaded millions of shares of stock he owned on unsuspecting investors.
During opening statements in a trial expected to last several weeks, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission attorney Andrew J. Palid said Jehu Hand, a California lawyer, secretly held control of two companies and recruited several people to artificially inflate the price of the stock before selling off his shares to investors in Massachusetts and elsewhere. (Securities and Exchange Commission v. Jehu Hand and Antonio Katz, Civil Action No. 1:15-cv-14109 (D. Mass. Dec. 10, 2015)). It is most unfortunate when a member of the bar is accussed of a crime such as what has been charged.
