He had a medical background as a nursing student and went between schools and hospitals. He also underwent various internships and endured sleepless nights at the wards. It was then Ilyasov realized that this routine was not for him. The reality of having to take care of the sick and terminally-ill patients took a toll on his sanity. He comprehended that this type of environment did not suit his personality. "I was chasing after the money more than I was chasing my inner self," he recalled.
It dawned on him that it was not his obligation to prove to other people what he was capable of doing. He only had himself to prove his worth. "Do not squander your years by listening to other people," he said. He realized that he would have been an accomplished man much sooner if he had believed in his potential. Ilyasov left as a college dropout and went on to follow what his heart desired. He entered a different arena and became an entrepreneur who optimizes dealership services. Ilyasov is now a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, and relishes on his chosen path.
He became a car dealer consultant for a Fortune 500 company called Premier Kia of Kenner. Even as a novice, he was not intimidated by the competition around him. It even inspired him to work harder and improve his skills in dealership and consultancy. In his third month, he became the salesperson of the year. It was an astounding feat for him. He had surpassed others who were already in the field for more than a decade. He is currently the Acquisitions Manager and leads a team of skilled individuals.
Adjusting to the New Normal
The pandemic struck out of nowhere and disrupted a plethora of industries. Ilyasov remained resilient and went along with the changes due to COVID-19. "We sanitize and clean our workplaces three times a week. We spent a fortune to follow the health protocols to ensure the safety of both our clients and the staff," he stated. Other measures included wearing masks, monitoring the temperature, and installing dividers in stations. Despite the additional requirements, the transition went well. It even became an advantage to Ilyasov's industry.
"There are still people who need our services even now since we are also a mechanics shop. It is the reason why we remained open the whole time. Our business is one of the essentials to survive this pandemic," Ilyasov revealed. He noticed an influx of clients in recent months, which benefited his dealership. He soon understood that the car business is that type that can thrive in any situation. People still needed a way to travel since public transportation was also affected.

Nurturing personal relationships paved the way for a successful company. Ilyasov invested in a culture where everyone is supportive and compassionate. He believed that fair treatment to each member of the team is crucial. When a problem arises, others are there to help. "As long as everyone does his part, people will be there to support each other," he disclosed. Ilyasov emphasized the need to level with the people and tell them in the best possible way. "You have to make them feel that they matter to the business. Help them out of sincerity and not for your pocket. That is going to make you a lot more successful."
Ilyasovdescribed his leadership style to be more personal but efficient. He demonstrated the tasks to these rookies first. Later, he supervised them during their early stages on the job. "I do lead by example. In the beginning, I make sure to hold their hand and guide them through the whole process. When they become confident and reliable, I then put my full trust and belief in their abilities," he said. As a result, he gained more referrals that piqued his business.

Ilyasov encountered plenty of challenges as a car dealer and consultant. He also had doubts when he started, but he never stopped pushing forward to reach his goals. "You have to stay focused and committed. Failure is part of life. It is a learning process. You have to fail to understand what you are doing. It is these failures that led me to where I am today.
