True Eye Experts, an eye care company based in Florida, recently announced its scholarship winner for the academic year 2020-2021. The student who will be awarded the $1,000 grant is Tiffany Eneumo, an incoming freshman at the University of Houston.
TAMPA, FL / ACCESSWIRE / June 11, 2021 / A Florida-based eye health company presented its 2020-2021 winner for its annual scholarship program. Called the True Eye Experts Academic Scholarship, the program aims to provide financial assistance for students who are struggling to pay for college expenses. The recent winner is Tiffany Eneumo, who will be pursuing a degree in Entrepreneurship and Finance as an incoming freshman at the University of Houston.
Although basic education is a right, not everyone is privileged to pursue a college degree. According to Education Data, only 67% of students in the U.S. enroll to get a 2-4 year degree, and the numbers are even smaller for those who graduate on time. The reasons for not graduating on time are varied, but this is majorly in part of financial struggles.
This is the inspiration for the annual scholarship program provided by the Florida-based eye health company. As believers of not just vision wellness but overall health, they want students to be free from the stress of wondering where to get money to pay for college-related expenses. They want deserving students who would also make an impact in their respective communities with the scholarship grant they will receive.
Tiffany Eneumo, the recent winner, gave an outstanding answer for the scholarship's essay prompt: "What's your vision for the future and how will your college experience play a role in your impact?"
Tiffany explained the importance of entrepreneurship in community growth, but she noticed the lack of opportunities because many aspiring business owners cannot raise capital.
"One of the largest barriers facing entrepreneurs in underserved communities is inadequate access to capital. While funding start-ups has historically taken a one size fits all approach, many investors are now beginning to realize the need for individualized and innovative funding methods," she discussed in her essay.
The winner hopes to use her degree to help create innovative ways so that entrepreneurs can raise funds for their respective businesses. She is confident that the University of Houston can help give her the knowledge and experience she needs to bring these goals to fruition.
"As I will be studying at the University of Houston, I know I will be in a city brimming with entrepreneurial spirit. I hope to connect with the entrepreneurial community in Houston as I continue my academics in order to gain experience and have mentorship while I expand upon my ideas related to financial innovation," she added.
Tiffany also talked about specifically starting small programs in marginalized communities, hopefully revolutionizing the way funding is done for different kinds of entrepreneurs.
"While studying, I aspire to start small programs dedicated towards expanding financial resources in marginalized communities. Following my university education, I will strive to develop my own company that takes standard financing and finds ways to make it accessible to all communities," she ended.
