The Baltimore-area dental practice franchise is proud to conduct patient evaluations regarding the suitability of the much-vaunted alternative to metal braces.
BALTIMORE, MD / ACCESSWIRE / October 22, 2021 /As one of Maryland's premiere dental practices, Smiles R Us Dentistry is proud to offer patient assessments at each of its seven Baltimore-area clinics regarding their suitability for Invisalign®, a comfortable and convenient alternative to metal braces. More than one million patients worldwide have had their dental problems effectively corrected with Invisalign®.
Invisalign® is different from traditional braces in that it straightens teeth just as effectively, but uses a more modern approach that is best suited for an active and social lifestyle. Its clear plastic aligners are virtually invisible, and unlike traditional braces, they are removable, allowing patients to brush and floss their teeth with greater ease, or even remove the aligners altogether for a special evening or physical activity. Additionally, unlike traditional braces, wearers of Invisalign® have no restrictions on what types of food and drink they can consume. And whereas traditional braces use a system of wires and metal that poke and irritate the gums, Invisalign® is made from smooth plastic that is far more comfortable to wear. In short, Invisalign® will fix your teeth like traditional braces, but without any of the downsides generally associated with traditional braces.
Invisalign® can be used to treat a whole host of conditions, including teeth that are widely gapped, overly crowded, or anything in between. Treatment begins with an assessment to determine if the patient is a good candidate, which is available at any Smiles R Us location.
This process begins with x-rays and impressions taken of the patient's teeth and used to create a 3D image. Using this, the exact movements of the patient's teeth are mapped out and further virtual images are made. Based on all this information, a series of custom-made clear aligners are crafted specifically for the patient. These aligners are made with BPA-free plastic and fit effortlessly over top of the patient's teeth. Approximately every two weeks, the patient will start wearing a new set of aligners as they progress though their treatment goals. As this is happening, about every six weeks or so the patient will need to have a check-up at Smiles R Us so their progress can be monitored.
Although each case is unique, Invisalign® treatment usually takes about a year to complete in adults. With teenagers, the length of treatment is comparable to regular braces. For the most expedient results, patients are recommended to wear the aligners between 20-22 hours a day, as doing so will hasten the pace at which teeth are gently guided into their ideal position.
It should be noted that not all dentists and orthodontists work with Invisalign®, but the medical teams at Smiles R Us are specially trained to do so and will develop an individualized treatment plan designed to give the best results to the patient. Smiles R Us Dentistry is currently accepting new patients.
