TORONTO, Dec. 13, 2018 /CNW/ - National Access Cannabis Corp. ("NAC" or the "Company") (TSXV: META), a best practices leader in delivering secure, safe and responsible access to legal cannabis in Canada, today announced the opening of a cannabis retail store on First Nation land in Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation ("NCN"), Thompson, Manitoba. The new retail location is listed below: Open: "I am proud to announce the opening of another META store in partnership with First Nations," said Mark Goliger, CEO of NAC. "Bringing our META brand to Thompson, Manitoba in partnership with the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation, proves our retail strategy and momentum as we quickly roll-out new stores. Thompson, Manitoba is known as the 'Gateway to the North', and this new store will act as another gateway, providing safe and legal access to recreational cannabis for the more than 50,000 poeple that use Thompson as a shopping and travel-through hub. Adding six stores in Manitoba to our 14 NewLeaf locations in Alberta, brings us to a total of 20 stores, maintaining NAC as the largest private retailer in Canada. The Manitoba government previously awarded the Company authorization to operate 10 privately owned retail cannabis stores, an e-commerce platform, and four additional retail stores in partnership with First Nations groups in the Province of Manitoba. The Company continues to develop its retail strategy to open more legal cannabis retail locations in partnership with three Manitoban Indigenous First Nations (Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Long Plain First Nation, and Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation). These partnerships are expected to establish retail cannabis distribution on First Nation lands under Indigenous and NAC leadership.
