U.S. Secretary of Education John King today issued the following statement to celebrate the anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, the historic health care reform law signed by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010:
"Healthy children are better learners. Through the historic Affordable Care Act, more families have access to the health care they deserve. The law alleviated the burden too many families felt without health insurance and created pathways for hospitals and communities to collaborate in new and meaningful ways around supporting healthy students. All of our students are better served when community and school leaders work together. I have seen firsthand how this type of collaboration is changing outcomes for children and families.
