Mergers: Commission clears acquisition of Airbus Defence Electronics by KKR
European Commission - Daily News
Brussels, 6 June 2016
The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of Airbus Defence Electronics by KKR of the US.
Airbus Defence Electronics comprises three businesses, namely Airbus DS Optronics GmbH, Airbus DS Electronics and Border Security GmbH, both of Germany, and Airbus DS Electronics and Border Security SAS of France. KKR owns and manages private equity funds investing in companies active in a variety of sectors. Airbus Defence Electronics manufactures and sells sensor systems, military radars and communications, electronic warfare and optronics.
The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would raise no competition concerns because the companies' activities do not overlap and they are not active on related markets. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information will be available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.8022.
