Brussels, 26 August 2016
The European Commission has approved under the EU Merger Regulation the acquisition of Logoplaste (consisting of the two companies Newpak of Luxembourg and Logoplaste Latam of the Netherlands) by the Carlyle Group of Luxembourg.
Carlyle is a global alternative asset manager investing in all economic sectors. Logoplaste is an industrial group focusing on the manufacturing of rigid plastic packaging in the food and beverage, personal care, household care and oil and lubricants sectors.
The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would raise no competition concerns, in particular because the companies in the portfolio of Carlyle do not produce the same kind of rigid plastic packaging as Logoplaste. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure. More information will be available on the Commission's competition website, in the public case register under the case number M.8133.
