(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 17, 2015 ) Sherman, Texas -- A spokesperson for A Cut Above Cutlery announced today that the latest entry in their line of kitchen cutlery was Available for sale now on Amazon. .
"We're excited and proud to be able to launch our newest product in time for the Holiday Gift Season- a set of 6 high quality stainless steel steak knifes, packed in a beautiful wooden storage box," Director of Public Relations Zoe Nichols said. "Not only are these knives of the highest quality possible,
Nichols said that the research and planning for the company's steak knife set goes back to the beginning of the year, and involved comprehensive product testing and development. She said that initially the company focused on launching the line with an 8 Inch Chef's Knife, with the thought that it was the most likely to have broad customer appeal. "Our Chef's Knife is one of the most popular kitchen items on Amazon today, and we know we'll sell a ton of them during the holidays as well," Nichols said.
While the serrated Stainless Steel Steak Knife is a ubiquitous part of American culture in the 21st Century, they did not exist 100 years ago.
Prior to World War I, table knives required frequent sharpening and polishing to keep them in usable shape. Immediately following World War I, Stainless Steel became commonly available, which alleviated the need to constantly polish table knives. However, sharpening was still a regular chore until the introduction of the serrated edge in the years after World War II.
With the decade beginning in 1950, the practice of using heat to treat stainless steel improved American kitchen knife technology sufficiently to do away with constant sharpening. But by this point, the serrated edge of the Steak Knife was firmly entrenched in the American culture. It continues to be the edge of choice for Steak Knives today.
Although they are called "Steak Knives", the company says that there are actually many uses for them, beyond the traditional one. Company Founder Theron Andrews told us, "A little know fact is that the steak knife is actually referred to as the Swiss Army Knife of Argentina in some circles. I personally use mine for every kind and cut of meat- chicken, pork, lamb, you name it. The unique serrated edge and comfortable handle of our knives make them a natural for just about anything you can put on your plate," Andrews said, laughing.
The company "soft launched" the knives a little over a week ago, and they have already garnered 5 star reviews on Amazon, in addition to being praised on The company's Facebook Page. .
