Japanese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Urges Stricter European Control of Arms and Dual-Use Exports to China
Tokyo, 19 June 2014 - Europe should introduce stricter measures to enforce the EU arms embargo on China and restrict dual-use exports at a moment of strategic uncertainty in the East and South China Seas, according to Japan’s Senior Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Nobuo Kishi. Speaking to a delegation of parliamentarians from NATO member countries visiting Japan, Vice-Minister Kishi described the strategic challenges Japan is confronting. Foremost in the minds of the Japanese leadership is China’s growing military capabilities and its revisionism on maritime boundaries in the East and South China Seas.
