The need for environmental conservation has grown over the last few years & fortunately, many non-profit organizations in India have made a lot of progress. Although it is not possible to mention all of them, we list six notable & trustworthy tree plantation organizations making efforts to build environmental awareness through tree plantations.
Catchfoundation is one of the best tree plantation ngo based in Ahmedabad. Their volunteers conduct green walks every month to ensure the quality of the plants resulting in the increase of their survival ratio from 60% to 98%. Catchfoundation’s team compromises senior citizens, home-makers, entrepreneurs & army officers. Their main goal is to create awareness of cleanliness in the surrounding areas, spread greenery by planting as many trees as possible, and encourage people to avoid single-use plastics.
2) Green Yatra
This organization tries to develop a sense of responsibility among the school students across Maharashtra by carrying on various tree planting activities. The name of their program is “Go green kids”, where they provide saplings to schools & encourage students to take those saplings. They will also visit regularly to observe the health of the trees, which has resulted in a 95% survival rate so far. Currently, they are planning to expand their services across India.
3) Project green hands
Project green hands is a project carried out by the Isha Foundation, whose primary goal is to increase the plantation of trees in Tamil Nadu. Currently, they are aiming to plant about 141 million trees across Tamil Nadu & is known as the “Green School Movement”. In addition, project green hands also supply 2000 seeds to students & encourage them to cultivate forest through peer-to-peer education.
4) Sankalp Taru
Developed in 2013, This program offers a complete curriculum. Sankalp Taru doesn’t only encourage students to plant trees but also helps them to learn more about the environment. They carry various workshops on kitchen gardens, photosynthesis & many more. Their goal is to help young minds develop a good outlook towards nature.
5) Say Trees
Say Trees is a Bangalore-based NGO consisting of individuals committed to saving the environment. Currently, their volunteers are working to provide saplings to all the schools outside of Bangalore. They have tie-up with various schools in Hosur & have already planted about 1200 trees. Their main goal is to plant 10,000 trees in the coming months. This organization uses a technique for planting known as “Miyawaki”, which helps the plants to grow faster.
This organization encourages students across various campuses to grow saplings. They have recently successfully planted 40,000+ trees across Anna university as a part of their new initiative. Established in 2016, Siruthulli provides soil, manure & seeds to the students to grow their saplings.
