Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Josh Hawley released the following statement following the death of Officer Gary Michael, 37, of Clinton, Missouri. Officer Michael was fatally shot while performing a routine traffic stop on Sunday, August 6.
"Officer Gary Michael represents the best of our state. Missouri is grateful for his courage and dedication to preserving the peace, enforcing the rule of law and defending that thin blue line that stands between us, our loved ones, and those who would do us harm. Our hearts and prayers are with his family as they go through the pain of this terrible loss. Their loss is our loss. Missouri mourns with them," Hawley said. "I have instructed my office to provide any and all assistance necessary to find those responsible for this heinous act, and bring them to justice."
