FBI Offers Reward for Information in Oakland Cold Case Murder
OAKLAND - September 10, 2015 - Today, the FBI is announcing a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible for killing Aya Nakano. This comes in addition to a separate significant reward being offered by Nakano’s family. The FBI is teaming up with the Oakland Police Department to ask for the public’s help in identifying two people responsible for shooting and killing Nakano.
The shooting happened on June 12, 2013, around 11 p.m., just one hour before Nakano’s 23rd birthday. Nakano was driving to his home in Emeryville when his car was in a minor accident with a silver four-door sedan with tinted windows at the intersection of Stanford Avenue and Market Street in Oakland. Nakano stopped near the intersection and the silver sedan also stopped. Two suspects then exited the silver sedan and shot Nakano, fatally wounding him. The suspects then drove off.
