Wyoming Man Charged with Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child
September 17, 2015 - U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming Christopher A. Crofts announced today that on September 16, 2015, John William Spoonhunter, 31, was charged with aggravated sexual abuse of a child in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 2241(c) and 1153 in connection with allegations occurring on the Wind River Indian Reservation. Spoonhunter is facing not less than thirty years nor more than life imprisonment; and a $250,000 fine; a $250 special assessment and possible restitution costs. An indictment and complaint are only an accusation. In every criminal case, the accused is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, and the government always has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
