LVMPD Wishes to Thank Citizen Who Assisted Injured Officer
September 28, 2015 - The LVMPD would like to thank an unknown citizen who rushed to the aid of an injured LVMPD patrol officer on September 6, 2015. At approximately 12:12 p.m. on that day, two uniformed LVMPD officers in a marked patrol vehicle were on their way to a disturbance call at a business located in the 4900 block of Tropicana Boulevard. While stopped at the traffic light at Tropicana Boulevard and Nellis Boulevard, a male on foot opened fire on the officers with a handgun. Officer Thomas Clevenger was hit in the hand.
Both officers exited the vehicle to seek cover. Officer Orizabal pursued the suspect and took him into custody in the center median of East Tropicana Boulevard. An unidentified citizen is seen pulling into the parking lot of the 7-11 in an unknown model Mercedes. The man went into the store, grabbed some towels, and rushed to the aid of Officer Clevenger.
The citizen left the scene before officers were able to identify him. The LVMPD would like to thank this man for assisting Officer Clevenger. A video showing the arrival of the citizen can be seen by clicking on the following link: https://youtu.be/0PkLOJd7sro.
