Las Vegas, NV - On October 2, 2015 at approximately 7:02 a.m., LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to a residence in the 7200 block of Hardtack Circle to investigate a report of a shooting. A resident who lives next door to where the shooting occurred placed the 911 call after a female juvenile came to her home and reported her mother had been shot.
Arriving officers discovered a deceased female adult inside the entryway to the residence who had suffered an apparent gunshot wound. Officers quickly learned the suspect who was a neighbor, had barricaded in a nearby residence with a juvenile. A male toddler who was also in the home, was brought to safety by the first responding patrol units.
LVMPD crisis negotiators and SWAT officers responded to the scene. During the course of the event, SWAT officers entered the residence and discovered a deceased adult male and deceased male juvenile. Both were dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
The preliminary investigation by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicates the male suspect went to the residence of the female who was home with her three children. The female appears to have been shot upon answering the door. After shooting the female the suspect kidnapped her young son and brought him back to his residence two doors away.
This is the 97th and 98th homicides investigated by the LVMPD in 2015. The identity of the deceased and cause and manner of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
