Man Arrested in Stabbing Death
Las Vegas, NV - December 31, 2015- On December 30, 2015, at approximately 12:49 a.m. LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 3700 block of Swenson Street to investigate a report that a subject who was stabbed. Arriving police and medical personnel located an adult male suffering from an apparent stab wound. The victim was transported the Sunrise Trauma Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
Responding officers also received information that a security guard observed the suspect fleeing the scene of the incident. The security guard took the suspect into custody a short distance away, where he was later turned over to arriving officers.
The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the victim was walking through the complex with another individual when they were approached by the suspect. After a brief verbal confrontation, the parties separated. Several hours later, the suspect confronted the victim and the other individual once again, resulting in the victim being stabbed.
The suspect has been identified as 29 year-old Gianni Raneri of Las Vegas. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces one charge of 1st degree murder with a deadly weapon. A booking photo of Raneri accompanies this release.
This is the 136th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2015. The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
