February Marks Start of Traffic Safety Focus
Law Enforcement Hopes to Change Deadly Trend
Las Vegas, NV - February 2, 2016 - Before the end of January 2016 had even come to an end, ten people had lost their lives in traffic collisions within the LVMPD’s jurisdiction. Despite all efforts to address the loss of life, tragedy on our roadways continues to be a headline.
In an effort to focus the public’s attention on the importance of responsible driving and walking habits on the roadways, the LVMPD has analyzed the top causal factors that play a role in these deadly incidents. Each month, the LVMPD will be joining forces with the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Henderson Police Department to address these specific factors through education and enforcement.
February’s focus is on speeding. Officers will be out on the freeways and roadways where drivers are known to exceed the speed limits.
It is the responsibility of everyone in the community to change the culture of how they drive and walk on local roadways. Please do your part and “leave early, drive the limit, arrive alive.”
