Detectives Investigate Homicide On East Karen Avenue
Las Vegas, NV - February 16, 2016- At approximately 9:05 p.m. on February 15, 2016 LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 4500 block of East Karen Avenue to investigate reports of shots fired and a male down on the ground. Arriving officers located an adult male lying on the ground outside one of the buildings suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to the Sunrise Trauma Center where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated just prior to the shooting, a dispute occurred inside one of the apartments located in the same complex. The victim of the homicide arrived at that apartment and got into a verbal altercation with a male involved in the initial disturbance. The two men went outside where soon after, gunshots were heard and the victim was discovered shot. The other male left the scene before officers’ arrival.
Detectives are looking to interview a person of interest, identified as 44-year-old Lacy Howard, in connection with this event. This is the 19th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016. The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
