Man Dead after Confrontation in Southeast Valley
Las Vegas, NV - February 26, 2016 - At approximately 2:53 p.m. on February 25, 2016 LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 4500 block of East Viking Road to investigate a report of a burglary and a man shot. Arriving officers contacted two people at the front of the residence who had reported the incident, and found an adult male in the backyard of the residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to the Sunrise Trauma Center where he was later pronounced deceased
The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the house was vacant and being prepared for rental. The adult male and female at the scene were property managers who were checking on the house due to a locksmith indicating someone may have been inside the residence who was not authorized to be there. The property managers checked the front of the residence and went to the backyard where the male manager encountered another man. The manager, who had a valid concealed weapons permit, produced a firearm. The manager was then attacked by the man, and during the fight the manager fired one round from his handgun, striking the other man.
This is the 26th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016. The people involved remained at the scene and were interviewed by detectives. After the investigation is completed, the case will be submitted to the Clark County District Attorney for review. The identity of the deceased man, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
