Two Arrested in Connection with Homicide
Las Vegas, NV - June 14, 2016 - On June 13, 2016 at approximately 8:10 a.m. LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to the 5700 block of Jackie Drive to investigate a report of a male down in a driveway. Arriving officers located an adult male victim who appeared to have been shot. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel.
The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated that a group of three to four men had been drinking alcohol in front of the residence beginning the night before and into the early morning hours. A verbal altercation took place between three males which escalated when the suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Rodrigo Rodriguez, shot the victim. An additional suspect was identified as 19-year-old Kely Byron Lemus-Leyva.
Both Rodriguez and Lemus-Leyva were taken into custody a short distance from the crime scene at approximately 8:16 a.m. They were booked into the Clark County Detention Center and face one count of Murder with a Deadly Weapon.
This is the 79th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016. The identity of the deceased as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
