One Dead and Two Injured During Home Invasion
Las Vegas, NV - March 14, 2017 - On March 13, 2017 at approximately 10:26 p.m. LVMPD patrol officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 8000 block of Hesperides Avenue to investigate a report of a robbery and a person shot. The resident of the home indicated two armed suspects had entered the home and that both of the suspects had been shot. One of the suspects was down on the ground and the other had fled the scene.
Arriving officers located one adult male near a door to the residence deceased from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. A blood trail from the residence indicated a second suspect had fled the scene before officers’ arrival. Two residents of the home, a male and a female, were located inside of the home. The female had suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was transported to the UMC Trauma Center.
While officers were at the house, a man walked into Centennial Hills Hospital suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Detectives determined the man was possibly the second suspect from the incident on Hesperides Avenue. He was later transported to the UMC Trauma Center for treatment.
The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated the male and female residents were inside of the house when two men armed with handguns entered the home, restrained the male and female victims, and demanded money. The male victim was able to free himself, retrieve a gun, and shot multiple rounds at the two suspects. It is unknown at this time if the female resident was injured by the suspects or by the male resident.
This is the 31st homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2017. The identity of the deceased suspect, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. As of this release, no arrests have been made. It hasnot yet been confirmed that the injured male is one of the suspects from the home invasion. At the conclusion of the investigation, the findings will be submitted to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for review.
