New Hampshire Uses Block Grant Funding to Reduce Patients' Stress of Living with HIV
Many low-income HIV patients in New Hampshire depend on the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (RW CARE) program for life-saving medications, quality medical care, and support services. With funding from the Preventive Health and Health Services (PHHS) Block Grant, the New Hampshire Division of Public Health Services provided quality improvement training to the RW CARE team to address problems with timely processing of insurance payments for HIV clients. As a result of the training, medical provider knowledge about correct billing processes increased, billing error rates declined, payment lag time to providers decreased, and clients experienced fewer challenges in obtaining their critical healthcare and managing stress in their daily lives.
