MEXICO CITY, June 28, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Grupo Elektra, S.A.B. de C.V.(BMV:ELEKTRA)* (Latibex:XEKT), Latin America’s leading specialty retailer and financial services company and the largest non-bank provider of cash advance services in the United States, announced today the launch of Elektra Credit through its online platform www.Elektra.com.mx/Credito-Elektra through which it seeks to democratize access to e-commerce for the vast majority of the adult population that has not yet purchased online in Mexico.
According to the "Estudio de Comercio Electrónico en México 2017," conducted by the Mexican Online Sales Association (AMVO in Spanish), one of the main barriers to digital purchases is the lack of access to forms of payments. And according to data from the World Bank, at the end of 2017 there were an estimated 58.7 million people in Mexico without access to a bank account.
Elektra.com.mx seeks to break these barriers and facilitate access for the majority of Mexicans to acquire products subject to their consumption capacity. The requirements to process credit online at Elektra are minimal, easy, quick, and completely digital. Potential users need only to be legal adults with a valid voter ID issued by the National Electoral Institute (INE in Spanish).
