MADISON, Tenn., June 30, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul® is revealing details of its adaptive reuse plan for an unoccupied commercial building that will soon be a full-service moving and self-storage facility. U-Haul Moving & Storage of Rivergate at 1515 Gallatin Pike N. is currently offering truck and trailer sharing, moving supplies and U-Box® portable storage containers out of a temporary retail showroom. Renovations will soon render approximately 700 indoor climate-controlled self-storage units with high-tech security features at affordable price points. Storage rooms are expected to be available for rent this fall. Professional hitch installation and a new retail showroom will also be highlights of the 71,232-square-foot building on 6.95 acres. U-Haul acquired the property on Jan. 3. "This building has been vacant since the technical training school and HHgregg® Electronics moved out in 2017," said Jeff Porter, U-Haul Company of Nashville president. "We have the privilege of giving it a new purpose. By reusing the building, we save materials and can offer a fresh look to a building from the 1990s." Contact U-Haul Moving & Storage of Rivergate at (629) 221-2502 or stop by to see our progress. Hours of operation are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Reserve equipment at uhaul.com or contact Reservations at 1-800-GO-UHAUL. Acquisition of the property was driven by U-Haul Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. The adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-building materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings. Porter plans to employ at least six Team Members once the store is fully operational. U-Haul will look to hire locally to support job growth within the Madison community.
