4 Common Network Issues and Solutions
Is your internet slowing down while streaming online videos? Are you unable to do video calls in your room, lobby, or balcony due to slow WiFi? Well, such an issue of slow internet connection can be frustrating if not fixed immediately.
But you don't have to worry at all. In this article, we will provide you solutions to those network-related problems you are experiencing. Let's get started!
Virus on Network
The first issue that we are going to discuss is “virus on home network”. This virus might disable our networking devices like computers, laptops or mobile phones and cause issues while accessing the Nighthawk app. E-mail attachments, online advertisements, malicious software, or any online activity yes, even social media can be a cause of the issue.
Solution:
Run a complete network scan to find malicious files.
Keep your antivirus and anti-malware programs up-to-date.
Don't forget to keep back up all of your system files. Running a complete system backup will ensure that all your data and network is safe.
Also, confine temporary files.
Delete all the emails that are identified by your antivirus software.
Unable to Connect to the Internet
There can be different reasons behind this issue like use of an outdated router or modem. An outdated router or modem cannot provide you a continuous internet connectivity in hard-to-reach areas. But we have a solution to this type of issue as well.
Solution:
Keep your router and modem up-to-date.
Place them within range of each other.
Connect your device to access any website without any hassle.
Don't forget to update the network card and driver.
If it is not possible to stick to desktop all the time, switch to a WiFi range extender. A WiFi range extender keeps you connected in every nook and cranny of your house with a secure and uninterrupted internet connection.
Our recommendation would be Netgear EX8000 AC3000 X6S tri-band WiFi mesh extender. Click here for a complete Netgear WiFi extender setup instructions.
Duplicate IP Address
If a small error window is popping up on your device's screen again and again saying your IP address is already in use, then this can be due to:
Maybe your ISP has assigned two or more devices the same IP address.
The DHCP server has allowed the same dynamic address to multiple devices.
Chances are your system administrator has assigned a static IP address to your PC within the local network’s DHCP range, and on the other hand, the same address is given by the local DHCP server.
The above-mentioned are just a few of the plethora of reasons why IP address conflicts take place.
Solution:
Click on the “Start” button > “Run”.
Enter “cmd” into the text box.
Click “OK”.
The Windows command prompt displays.
Enter “ipconfig/renew” into the command prompt.
Press the “Enter” key. This process will refresh the dynamic IP address.
Now, check your WiFi connection. Your device will receive a unique IP address.
Slow Performance
Why is my internet running at snail speed? Why I can't run Netgear Nighthawk app? I can't manage my home network. Alas! Slow internet connection is hampering m work a lot.
If you wanna get rid of slow and sluggish internet connection, consider the following troubleshooting steps.
Solution:
Restart your extender, router, modem, mobile device, computer or laptop. Sometimes, a quick restart can fix many big network-related issues.
Check for the power LED on your router, modem or extender. It should be stable. On the off chance that you found them blinking, ensure that they are placed within reach or each other. If the issue still persists, unplug your devices – wait for some time and plug them back again.
Do not forget to place your router and the modem openly on a higher shelf. Doing so might increase your internet speed.
If you are using modem and the router for years, then either update their firmware or upgrade to another advance version.
