U.S. Marshals Arrest Violent Offender
Atlanta, GA – On January 23, 2024, the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force (SERFTF), in coordination with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, located and safely arrested a man wanted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for armed robbery committed on December 19, 2023.
Kobe Griffin, 20, is wanted for robbing a BP gas station in College Park, Georgia, during which he is alleged to have pointed a firearm at a clerk while he stole items from inside the store.
Griffin has a violent criminal history of weapons, assault, and narcotics offenses.
Investigators identified images on social media of the suspect with an AK-47 rifle and several firearms and determined Griffin was residing in an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Godby Road in College Park.
SERFTF investigators and SWAT located Griffin in an apartment and took him into custody. He was transported to the College Park Police Department.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment and seized an AK-47 rifle, two 9mm handguns, live ammunition, and magazines, as well as various illegal narcotics and $5,836 in U.S. currency.
The USMS SERFTF began operations in June 2003. It has partnership agreements with more than 46 federal, state, and local agencies and operates throughout Georgia. The SERFTF has apprehended more than 44,000 fugitives since its inception and is always striving to make communities safer.
