Two Memphis Juvenile Murder Suspects, Charged in Separate Crimes, Captured by U.S. Marshals
Memphis, TN – Two male juveniles, both aged 17, wanted for separate murders in 2023 and 2024 were captured by U.S. Marshals within two hours.
The first murder occurred on December 14, 2023. Cornelius Bennett was found shot to death in the 1900 block of S. Third Street in Memphis. On January 20, 2024, a juvenile petition for First Degree Murder and Especially Aggravated Robbery was issued for the arrest of a male juvenile.
The second crime occurred February 13, 2024, when Marqulo Mason was robbed and shot to death in the 2000 block of Philsar Street in Memphis. On February 26, a juvenile petition for First Degree Murder, Especially Aggravated Robbery and Aggravated Assault was issued for the arrest of a male juvenile.
On May 2 around 10:30 a.m., the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force (TRVFTF) caught up with the alleged killer of Marqulo Mason at a residence on the 1400 block of Roberts Road in Memphis. With the assistance of the Memphis Police Department (MPD) and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) Fugitive Apprehension Teams, marshals took the suspect into custody without incident.
Approximately one and a half hour later, at 12 p.m., the U.S. Marshals TRVFTF, MPD and SCSO fugitive teams went to a residence in the 6400 block of Gillespie Road. The team took the alleged murderer of Cornelius Bennett into custody without incident.
The U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency task force within Western Tennessee. The TRVFTF has offices in Memphis and Jackson, and its membership is composed of Deputy U.S. Marshals, Shelby, Fayette, and Tipton County Sheriff’s Deputies, Memphis and Jackson Police Officers, Tennessee Department of Correction Special Agents, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Since 2021, the TRVFTF has captured over 2,600 violent fugitives and sexual predators.
