Cleveland Metroparks Shooting Suspect Arrested in St. Louis by U.S. Marshals
St. Louis, MO – Cleveland Metroparks Police Chief Kelly Stillman and U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott announce the arrest of Marcus Anderson, 29. Anderson was wanted by the Cleveland Metroparks Police Department for attempted murder.
Anderson was wanted in connection to a June 22, 2024, shooting incident that occurred at the Red Oak Picnic Area in the city of Garfield Heights. Anderson and another male engaged in a verbal altercation that turned violent when the male victim was shot five times. Anderson fled the scene, and the male victim was taken to the hospital. Anderson was later identified as a suspect in this incident and a warrant was issued for his arrest on July 10, 2024.
Members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) worked closely with detectives of the Cleveland Metroparks Police Department and initiated a fugitive investigation on the whereabouts of Anderson. Investigators determined that Anderson had fled Ohio to Missouri. Earlier this morning, members of the U.S. Marshals led fugitive task force arrested Anderson at an address in the 2700 block of Utah Street, St Louis, Missouri.
“The successful apprehension and arrest by the U.S. Marshals Service underscores the value of our law enforcement partnerships,” said Cleveland Metroparks Police Chief Kelly Stillman. “These crimes will not be tolerated and we intend to prosecute this suspect to the fullest extent possible.”
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott added, “Another example on display today of the U.S. Marshals Service local partnerships and nationwide reach. This violent suspect fled over 500 miles to avoid arrest, but diligent efforts of our task force members resulted in him behind bars, now waiting to face the charges against him.”
