U.S. Marshals Arrest Murder Fugitive on Villanova University Campus
Philadelphia, PA - Members of the U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force arrested Shawn Moir, 26, inside a parking garage at Villanova University. Moir was wanted by the Vineland Police Department for Homicide and related charges, in relation to an August 26th incident in the 3000 block of Diamond Drive in Vineland, New Jersey. Moir is accused of stabbing his grandfather to death with a kitchen knife and fleeing the scene. On August 27th a warrant was issued and the Marshals Fugitive Task Forces in New Jersey and Philadelphia were asked to assist.
At approximately 1:00 p.m., investigators from the Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia located a black Chevy Tahoe Moir stole from his grandfather after the murder. The Taho was found inside a Villanova University parking garage at the intersection of Lancaster and Ithan Avenue. A short time after conducting surveillance on the vehicle, Moir was observed inside and arrested without incident. He was then transported to the Radnor Police Department for processing.
“Villanova University has seen significant law enforcement activity over the past couple weeks. We are very pleased to have effected a safe arrest in a manner that avoided drawing student attention,” said Robert Clark, Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal for the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force.
This arrest included investigators from the Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, the New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force (Atlantic City Division), Villanova University Police Department, and Radnor Police Department.
The Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force is a team of law enforcement officers led by U.S. Marshals in Philadelphia and the surrounding counties. The task force’s objective is to seek out and arrest violent crime fugitives. Membership agencies include the Philadelphia Police Department, Pennsylvania State Parole Officers, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Attorney General Agents, Immigration Customs Enforcement, Chester Police Department, Bucks County Sheriffs, and Delaware County Sheriffs.
