HOPE Foundation Launches Campaign for Los Angeles Families Displaced by Wildfires
Donations Will Support Educational Recovery Efforts Through the Pasadena Education Fund, Ensuring Stability for Displaced Students
BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA / ACCESS Newswire / January 30, 2025 /The HOPE Foundation, whose Honorary Chairs have included Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, and Opera Diva, Renee Fleming, has for decades worked throughout North America and South Africa to change the trajectory of children 's lives. Now given the current geo-political climate, HOPE is refocusing on helping communities to unite in turning crises into opportunities for collective community action and impact. This will begin with a series of We LOVE LA events slated to raise $1M - the first of which is outside of Indiana University in Bloomington on Valentine 's Day. Proceeds will go directly to families with children in the hardest hit and under-resourced sections of LA via the Pasadena Education Fund (PEF).
WE LOVE LA - A Valentine 's Day Dinner & Entertainment Fundraiser will be hosted at the Far Center for Contemporary Arts from 5:00-8:00PM on February 14. Supporters and partners include Old National Bank, the Far Center for Contemporary Arts, the Community Foundation of Monroe County, the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, Ivy Tech and musical performances contributed by faculty of the world-renowned Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University. The evening will close with a real-time virtual connection to PEF and a recipient family from LA.
"This is about more than money," said Alan M. Blankstein, Founder of the HOPE Foundation. "It 's a mission to reaffirm for communities nationwide what I learned in grade school; ‘I pledge allegiance to the flag of the UNITED States of America… ONE Nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for ALL. ' If Los Angeles loses, we ALL lose. So instead, we must all act."
Other options to contribute to this cause include La La Land - Valentine 's Movie Night for a Cause, and direct donations.
The HOPE Foundation invites individuals, businesses, and organizations to come together in solidarity with those affected by the devastating wildfires.
"We don 't have the luxury of time for inaction or cynicism," added Blankstein. "If we link arms, we can take the first steps here and in every community toward meaningful change together."

About The HOPE Foundation
The HOPE Foundation (Harnessing Optimism and Potential through Education) was founded in 1989 with Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu and Rene Fleming as its Honorary Chairs. HOPE has worked for decades throughout North America and South Africa to change the trajectory of children 's lives such that Failure Is Not an Option for any of them or the school communities that serve them.
After a 10-year hiatus, HOPE is now focused on catalyzing the collective action of communities to meet their most pressing needs while maintaining a sense of hope. In an era in which wildfires, earthquakes, floods, homelessness, and massive levels of violence dominate the daily headlines, it is easy to give in to despair, anger, fear, or a sense of helplessness. Sustaining and acting on a sense of hope and that possibility is deeply rooted in a larger mission that is courageous.
