Aven Osborne Lee’s Summit: A Story of Hard Work, Balance, and Growth
Student-Athlete Shares Her Journey in Exclusive Online Interview
LEE 'S SUMMIT, MO / ACCESS Newswire / April 1, 2025 /Aven Osborne, a dedicated student-athlete and community volunteer from Lee 's Summit, Missouri, is featured in an exclusive online interview where she shares her journey of perseverance, self-discipline, and personal growth. As a 10th-grade student at Summit Christian Academy, Aven balances academics, basketball, dance, and volunteer work while continuing to push herself toward new goals.
The interview highlights Aven 's commitment to developing her skills on and off the court. She plays on the junior varsity basketball team and is determined to work hard to earn a spot on the varsity team next year.
"It was disappointing at first," Aven admits about not making varsity. "But I realized that JV gives me the chance to improve my game, gain experience, and prepare for varsity next year."
Aven embraces the lessons that basketball has taught her-teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. She understands that success isn 't just about talent but about effort and consistency.
"Basketball has helped me learn how to communicate, trust my teammates, and be a leader," she says. "Even if I 'm not the top scorer, I can still contribute by encouraging others and setting a good example."
Beyond basketball, Aven 's passion for dance has helped her build confidence and self-expression. She sees dance as a creative outlet that challenges her in a different way than sports.
"In basketball, confidence comes from knowing your skills," she explains. "In dance, it 's about how you present yourself. If you don 't believe in yourself, it shows."
Through both activities, Aven has learned to overcome self-doubt by focusing on consistent effort and practice.
"I 've had moments where I questioned if I was good enough," she says. "But I 've learned that confidence grows with effort. The more you practice, the more you believe in yourself."
Finding Balance in a Busy Schedule
Aven 's ability to juggle school, sports, and dance comes from strong time management skills. She stays organized by planning her week in advance, ensuring she has time for all her commitments while avoiding burnout.
"I use a planner to map out my week," she shares. "That way, I know when I have practices, assignments due, and time to rest."
Despite her packed schedule, Aven makes time to give back to her community. She volunteers at local animal shelters like Furry Kids Refuge and Wayside Waifs, as well as at her church, Abundant Life.
"Giving back to the community is important to me," she says. "Even small acts of kindness can make a difference."
Looking to the Future
Aven is determined to keep improving, both as an athlete and as a student. She hopes to pursue a career in sports medicine or physical therapy, combining her love for athletics with her desire to help others.
"I love learning about how the body works and how to help athletes recover," she says. "It would be amazing to combine my passion for sports with helping others."
For now, Aven remains focused on refining her skills, pushing herself to grow, and making the most of every opportunity.
"I don 't know exactly where life will take me," she says. "But I do know that if I keep working hard and staying positive, I 'll be ready for whatever comes next."
