Founded in September 2023 by former enterprise technology sales executive Kelly Hubbell, the bootstrapped company has grown to more than 60 employees and now serves families across all 50 states and Canada. Demand nearly tripled during the first half of 2026 compared with the preceding six months.
Through its personalized hiring service, Sage Haus helps families define the household support they need and manages the recruiting, vetting, matching and onboarding process. But its approach is not limited to families hiring a house manager. The idea grew from Hubbell 's own experience. Before taking maternity leave with her third child, while working full time and raising three young children, she documented everything required to keep her household running. It added up to more than 20 hours a week, including not only completing chores but noticing what needed attention, planning what came next, coordinating the work and following through. That distinction between getting help with tasks and transferring ownership of the work behind them became the foundation for Sage Haus.
Central to the company 's model is the house manager, a role historically associated with full-time staff in wealthy households. Sage Haus adapts the role to the needs of working families, often through flexible, part-time positions. A house manager may oversee groceries, meal planning, laundry, appointments, school logistics, home repairs and vendor coordination. What distinguishes the role from task-based help is ownership: recognizing what needs to happen, making a plan and ensuring the work gets done without requiring a parent to continually assign and monitor it.
