SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA / ACCESS Newswire / October 15, 2026 /Gabriel "kingqueensuited " Tavares won the Sunday Banana at Americas Cardroom on Oct. 4 and Oct. 11, receiving $96,336 and $108,321, respectively. The consecutive first-place finishes produced combined winnings of $204,657 for the Brazilian poker player.
The Oct. 4 tournament carried a $1,050 buy-in and recorded 436 entries, generating a $436,000 prize pool. The following Sunday 's event drew 502 entries and produced a $502,000 prize pool, with Tavares winning both editions.
Tavares discussed the results in an Americas Cardroom interview, emphasizing the role of consistency in high-stakes tournament play.
"When you play high stakes, consistency is very important, and winning tournaments like that is very important, " Tavares said.
He also described managing a medium stack at the second final table while other players held substantially shorter stacks. His account focused on the patience and discipline required during that stage of the tournament.
"The short stacks were really, really short, and I was a middle stack, " he said. "It was very hard because I had to be very disciplined, and I was. It worked, but it was very tough. "
Tavares previously won the $10 Million GTD NLH Venom in April 2025, overcoming a field of 3,735 entries. He has since secured a place in Day 2 of the current $5 Million GTD NLH Venom PKO.
His qualifying stack of 4,248,891 chips came from the opening flight on Oct. 4 and ranked second among the stacks advancing from Day 1A. The tournament has a $2,650 direct buy-in.
