On June 29, 2024, Patelco became aware of a security incident on its IT Network. As a result, Patelco launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cyber security experts to determine the nature of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized party gained access to its network on May 23, 2024, which led to accessing the databases on June 29, 2024. Patelco then launched a comprehensive review of the incident to determine the exact type of information involved and identify the individuals impacted in the data breach. On August 14, 2024, it was confirmed that the accessed data contained personal information of the customers.
Patelco 's investigation discovered that the following types of sensitive personal information may have been exposed in the data breach: full name, Social Security number, driver 's license number, date of birth, and email address. On August 20, 2024, Patelco issued a public disclosure about the data breach and started sending notice letters to impacted individuals. Compensation may be available for those individuals who received notice that their personal information was compromised.
