Safe Haven Baby Boxes Celebrates Remarkable 2024 Milestones: 300th Baby Box Blessed and Expanded Outreach
WOODBURN, INDIANA / ACCESSWIRE / December 23, 2024 /Safe Haven Baby Boxes is proud to conclude 2024 with monumental achievements highlighting the unwavering commitment to saving lives and supporting birth mothers in crisis. This December, the organization celebrated the blessing of its 300th Baby Box in Mishawaka, IN,, a significant milestone in the mission to provide safe and anonymous surrender options for mothers across the nation.
Among the highlights of 2024 was the debut of Safe Haven Baby Boxes ' reality show series, Baby Boxes, which premiered in July. The 15-episode series gave viewers an intimate look at the organization 's operations, featuring first responders who heroically rescue surrendered infants and candid moments from the team led by founder Monica Kelsey. The show inspired audiences with personal stories, behind-the-scenes challenges, and the ongoing expansion of Safe Haven Baby Boxes ' outreach. Watch the series here.
2024 By the Numbers:
100+ Baby Boxes Blessed: Expanding accessibility across four new states.
15 Surrenders: Providing life-saving options for mothers and new beginnings for children.
1,600+ Hotline Calls and Texts: A 49.7% increase from 2023, reflecting growing awareness and need for support.
19 Speaking Events & 97 Media Appearances: Amplifying the mission across the nation.
1.7 Million Social Media Followers: Engaging and educating a growing audience.
One of the most heartwarming moments of 2024 came in October when Monica and Joe Kelsey were blessed to meet Zoey. Zoey 's birth mother used Florida 's first Safe Haven Baby Box to safely surrender her baby girl. Firefighter Vincent, who retrieved the infant, and his wife Katie, who had been trying to adopt for over a decade, welcomed the baby into their family. The adoption was finalized in April 2024. This story beautifully illustrates the hope and love that Safe Haven Baby Boxes aim to provide for every baby and mother.
Founder Monica Kelsey, honored this year with Indiana 's Sagamore of the Wabash Award, the state 's highest civilian recognition, reflected on the year 's accomplishments: "Every surrender is a testament to the bravery of birth mothers and the compassion of communities that embrace these babies with open arms. This year, we have not only saved lives but also inspired countless others to support our mission."
Safe Haven Baby Boxes remains dedicated to expanding its reach and educating communities on the Safe Haven Law. As 2024 draws to a close, the organization looks ahead to 2025 with a renewed commitment to ensuring no baby is abandoned and every mother knows she has options.
