Caroline Joan ("Kay") S. Picart is a Filipino-born American philosopher, lawyer, and interdisciplinary scholar renowned for her contributions to philosophy, film studies, law, criminology, sociology, communications, and cultural studies, mainly focusing on horror cinema. She is the author and editor of numerous books and anthologies that have significantly influenced these fields. She was also a former associate professor of Philosophy, English and Humanities, with a courtesy appointment at a law school, and a former adjunct professor of law.
Dr. Picart is also an accomplished media personality, hosting the popular radio show Dr. Caroline (Kay) Picart Show. Her scholarly achievements include receiving the prestigious Lord Ruthven Award in the non-fiction category in 2011 for Dracula in Visual Media: Film, Television, Comic Book, and Electronic Game Appearances, 1921-2010, co-authored with John Edgar Browning. She also won the Best Essay award, an international distinction, from Dapim, a scholarly Holocaust journal based in Israel, for her essay, "Nationalities, Histories, Rhetorics: Real/Reel Representations of the Holocaust and Holocaust Trials and a Poethics of Film and Law.
