Marquis Who’s Who Recognizes Joseph A. Trzasko, PhD, for Excellence in Neuropsychology
UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESSWIRE / January 13, 2025 /Marquis Who 's Who has honored Joseph A. Trzasko, PhD, for his expertise in neuropsychology. Dr. Trzasko 's impressive career as a renowned neuropsychologist and educator has spanned over 54 years.
Where Talent Aligns
From an early age, the value of education was instilled in Dr. Trzasko by his parents and grandmother. While initially planning to major in nuclear physics, he quickly realized while attending New York University 's Courant Institute - which is comparable to MIT - that his talents aligned more with psychology.
Dr. Trzasko earned a Bachelor of Arts, graduating cum laude from the University of New Hampshire in 1967. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he notably volunteered and graduated from U.S. Air Force Officer field training as a civilian during the summer of 1965. He furthered his education at The University of Vermont, where he received a Master of Arts in 1969. Following that, he was given a full-ride scholarship to continue his education at the university and graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy in 1972.
Along with his significant education, Dr. Trzasko is certified in behavioral therapy, a certified professional qualification (CPQ), a certified clinical anxiety treatment professional (ICATP) and a licensed and board-certified psychologist with a specialization in forensic psychology.
While studying for his doctorate, Dr. Trzasko began working as a full-time professor at Mercy College. As an expert in psychological testing, neuropsychology and forensic psychology, he retired and was named professor emeritus in 2008. He furthered his knowledge and skills, completing a postdoctoral internship at the Colorado State Home and Training School, also known as the Ridge State Home.
Dr. Trzasko attributes his success to a combination of education, hard work and the guidance of influential mentors. He reflects, "One 's success or failure is influenced by a multitude of interrelated factors, including but not limited to one 's upbringing, i.e., culture, ethnic, religious and parental beliefs. These influences shape one 's self-esteem, ego and view of what is success. What is success in one culture may not be true in another culture. As such, one is left to determine one 's own success." he says.
"Along the way, hopefully, one is encouraged by family, friends, teachers, counselors, etc., to provide a sense of accomplishment. In addition, one needs to be aware of the unexpected, unknown factors, i.e., both good and bad luck; this includes taking advantage of opportunities that arise. As is often said, learn from failure. One should develop a clear path for one 's life, using critical reasoning to set not only goals, but how to best achieve them. Once someone has logically determined their goals, taking into account their abilities and the likelihood of success, then one must incorporate their emotional passion to achieve those goals," continues Dr. Trzasko.
A Professional Journey
Dr. Trzasko believes psychology is about soul searching. With a particular interest in neuropsychology, a relatively new field of psychology, Dr. Trazasko served as a staff psychologist at St. Dominic 's Intermediate Care Facility for the Developmentally Disabled from 1980 to 2018. Other professional experience includes working as a consultant with various organizations, such as Opengate Inc. from 2006 to 2013, the Orange County AHRC from 1982 to 2009 and the Jewish Guild for the Blind in New York City from 1982 to 2002.
Dr. Trzasko has also served as an expert witness on several notable "failure to educate" cases to assure proper education services for visually impaired and blind children.
From 1999 to 2003, Dr. Trzasko served as the chair of educational psychology at the CLEP Test Development Educational Testing Service. He was a neuro-forensic psychologist at Supervised Lifestyles Inc., a behavioral health clinic, from 2002 to 2009. Throughout his extensive career, he has operated a private practice and offered psychological evaluations.
Publications and Awards
Dr. Trzasko is a contributing author of "Working with Visually Impaired Young Students: A Curriculum Guide for 3 to 5-Year-Olds," published in 1998, as well as "Working with Visually Impaired Young Children: A Curriculum Guide for Birth - 3 Year Olds," which was published in 1992.
Previously, Dr. Trzasko was the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. He is currently a member of the American Psychological Association and the American College of Forensic Examiners. Satisfied with his professional and personal life, Dr. Trzasko plans to join a program in New Hampshire, working with individuals with addiction to help create stronger treatment plans.
Acknowledgments and Personal Life
One 's success does not occur in a vacuum. As such, Dr. Trzasko would like to acknowledge the following individuals who have had a significant influence on his personal and professional life: St. Gonzalez, St. Pius V Elementary School, for instilling strong study and "can do" skills; Dr. Frances Mahoney, Mercy College, for having faith in his academic teaching to have hired him in the first place; his parents for lifelong support; and his grandmother, who placed high importance on education as a result of her attending an underground elementary school in Eastern Europe "under the threat of death."
