What Happened?

On March 26, 2025, NINGI Research published a report alleging that Vita Coco is “suffering from structural internal deficiencies, such as undisclosed related-party transactions and supply chain mismanagement.” The report alleges “Vita Coco misled investors about its 2018 acquisition of energy drink ‘Runa’” by failing to disclose a “related-party transaction.” The report further alleges the Company’s largest private label customer, Costco, “is moving to source Kirkland Coconut Water from a Vita Coco competitor” and “will ultimately terminate its contract with the company” “after Vita Coco failed to deliver reliably last year.” The report concludes this “will result in an estimated $90 million revenue shortfall for Vita Coco by the end of 2025.”

On this news, Vita Coco’s stock price fell $3.90, or 11%, to close at $31.55 per share on March 26, 2025, thereby injuring investors.
