Totaligent Publishes White Paper No. 1: The Marketing Stack Is Dead. AI Wrote the Obituary.
First installment of the Future of Enterprise Communications series argues that fragmented marketing software has become a memory problem — and that unified communications infrastructure is the prerequisite for AI-directed marketing
BOCA RATON, Fla., Sept. 03, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Totaligent, Inc. (OTCID: TGNT) (“Totaligent” or “the Company”)today announced the release of White Paper No. 1 in its Future of Enterprise Communications series. The paper, “The Marketing Stack Is Dead. AI Wrote the Obituary. The Evidence Is In.,” sets out the Company’s view that enterprise marketing software is entering a structural reset — from a rented stack of disconnected tools to a unified communications operating system that artificial intelligence can actually run.
The paper’s central thesis is not that companies lack traffic. It is that they lack memory. U.S. internet advertising reached a record $294.6 billion in 2025, according to the IAB/PwC Internet Advertising Revenue Report, while typical on-site conversion remains under 3 percent. The operating pattern the paper describes is familiar to any growth team: ninety-seven of one hundred people leave, and the advertiser pays to meet them again, as if they had never met.
That pattern now has a measurable software cost. Scott Brinker and Frans Riemersma’s State of Martech 2026 counted 15,505 commercial marketing-technology products after the first sub-1 percent year of net growth in the landscape’s fifteen-year history. Gartner’s 2025 Marketing Technology Survey found marketers using about 49 percent of the capabilities they already pay for. McKinsey’s 2026 research on AI in marketing locates the economic prize not in isolated content tools but in orchestration — and notes that most organizations are still early in turning individual AI use into enterprise results.
“For years, businesses solved every marketing problem by adding another application,” said Ted DeFeudis, Chief Executive Officer of Totaligent. “Marketing did not get more powerful as it got more digital. It got more rented. AI does not fix that by writing a better subject line. It fixes it only if the system underneath can remember who engaged, on which channel, with what creative, and whether they already said no. We did not bolt a chatbot onto the stack. We built the room the agent walks into.”
White Paper No. 1 examines:
- Why the marketing stack flattened in 2026 — more than 15,500 products, utilization still near half, and Martech’s share of the marketing budget at a multi-year low — even as paid media spend rose;
- Why finite attention and fragile rented identity make first-party audience ownership the scarce asset, not another impression;
- How generative and agentic AI change the economics of software, and why isolated AI features cannot coordinate work the stack cannot see;
- Totaligent’s design premise — one audience, every channel, one source of truth — including Smart Capture, Smart Engage, Smart Links, and Smart Cookies on a shared ledger of what happened; and
- The longer-term destination the Company calls the communications singularity: users directing outcomes while AI agents operate the infrastructure.
Totaligent opened a public beta of its consumer-facing platform on March 5, 2025, and on December 23, 2025 announced completion of quality-assurance testing across the core marketing and campaign platform. The Company said the white paper reflects the architecture behind that work: unify communications, audience intelligence, creation, distribution, and measurement first, then let intelligence operate the system.
