These new Taxi Clubhouses would expand on the program that Marblegate initially debuted in 2023, when it opened the city's first-of-its-kind Taxi Clubhouse on West 22nd Street in Chelsea. This expansion comes as driver use of the original Taxi Clubhouse continues to surge. The Taxi Clubhouse recently surpassed 100,000 total visits since opening in 2023. Through just the first seven months of this year, total visits are already up nearly 25% over the full year of 2024. Marblegate will announce additional details about the location of the new Clubhouses later this fall and will model the spaces based on driver feedback in an effort to cater to their specific needs. Marblegate pioneered the Taxi Clubhouse in recognition of the need to better support the experience of drivers and the crucial role they play in NYC's transportation infrastructure. The Taxi Clubhouse in Chelsea offers a private lounge exclusively available to NYC professional drivers that provides them with a dedicated space to rest, relax, and recharge during their shifts. The space also contains restrooms, free coffee and tea, WiFi, games, an exercise area, massage chairs, a prayer room, and personal access to people who can assist drivers with their individual needs and provide general industry information. Senator Charles Schumer, TLC Commissioner David Do, and New York City Taxi Workers Alliance Executive Director Bhairavi Desai joined Marblegate for the ribbon cutting of its first Taxi Clubhouse in February 2023. "Marblegate entered the taxi industry in 2018 with a vision of driving positive change for the industry by treating the long-neglected driver as the customer, with a goal of returning dignity and financial success to drivers and their families after a devastating medallion debt crisis," said Andrew Milgram, Chief Executive Officer of MCC. "The feedback we received from drivers in response to the first Taxi Clubhouse was incredible and we knew that our team had to work to expand this invaluable resource to additional locations. This announcement is just the beginning of our efforts to bring more creative and common-sense solutions to the taxi industry and we look forward to announcing additional details about these new locations." New York City taxi drivers have some of the most difficult jobs in the city and routinely face challenges to meet some of their most basic needs during long shifts, including finding a space just to use the restroom, eat a meal or take a break outside of their cabs. The Taxi Clubhouse offers a respite for drivers to help deliver meaningful improvement to their working conditions, presenting a clean, easily accessible space that features a wide-range of amenities designed to provide drivers with a dignified space to access either during or before their shifts. Since opening, more than 2,000 NYC taxi drivers have visited the Taxi Clubhouse, nearly 20% of the city's yellow cab drivers. Signal Taxi, MCC's taxi fleet operation, is currently the second largest taxi operation in New York City. Recently, Signal Taxi has been adding over 50 new wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) taxis into operation each month, contributing approximately 30% to the city's overall growth in new WAV taxis, and putting Signal on pace to become the largest fleet in NYC. Signal Taxi is already the city's largest taxi fleet of WAVs and its fleet consists primarily of new hybrid WAV vehicles with state-of-the-art equipment. MCC believes it is the largest publicly traded company of its kind in the NYC taxi market. Leveraging Marblegate Asset Management's years of deep industry experience and expertise, and strong portfolio operations capabilities, MCC aims to transform and institutionalize the taxi industry. Marblegate played a pivotal role in the successful launch and implementation of the NYC MRP+ medallion debt relief program, designed to provide financial relief to drivers who were previously subject to predatory lending practices, catalyzing positive change in the industry and underpinning its ongoing recovery.
