BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Oct. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor America, in collaboration with Children's of Alabama, recently hosted the latest community child safety seat check at The Summit Birmingham, reinforcing their enduring commitment to child passenger safety across the state. Since launching their partnership, the initiative has served more than 1,179 families and replaced over 190 car seats, underscoring its lasting impact. This event is part of Hyundai's corporate social responsibility initiative, Hyundai Hope, which aims to provide families with the knowledge and resources necessary to keep children safe on the road. "The safety of our youngest passengers is paramount and extends far beyond the vehicles we design," said Cole Stutz, chief safety officer, Hyundai Motor North America. "Hyundai's ongoing partnership with Children's of Alabama demonstrates how community engagement and automotive innovation can work together to make a meaningful difference. By meeting families where they are and providing the knowledge and resources they need, we empower them to make life-saving decisions and ensure every child travels safely." The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reports that almost half of all car seats and booster seats are either installed incorrectly or misused. Data indicates that when safety seats are installed correctly, they can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants under one year old and by 54 percent for children between the ages of 1 and 4. At the Birmingham event, participants received complimentary inspections by certified child passenger safety technicians, who checked seats for manufacturer recalls, expiration dates, and correct fit for each child. Families in need were also provided with replacement seats to maximize safety. "We are grateful to Hyundai for this continued partnership," said Ashley Bridgmon, manager of the Health Education and Safety Center, Children's of Alabama. "Through their support, we are able to further promote child passenger safety and empower families with the knowledge they need to keep children safe on the roads." This latest event highlights the ongoing dedication of Hyundai and Children's of Alabama to child passenger safety and their shared vision for healthier, safer communities across the state.
