By leveraging Oracle Autonomous AI Database to run transactional, analytical, and batch workloads concurrently, CHLA has enhanced the performance of its business systems, laying the groundwork for its planned migration to Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications. Ranked among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the U.S., CHLA has nearly 8,000 employees and conducts more than 16,000 surgeries and 747,000 patient visits annually. Previously, CHLA had been using Oracle Base Database Service on OCI for its PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning and human capital management applications. To support continual growth, enhance data security, and boost performance and availability for an optimal user experience, CHLA needed a fully managed solution. After careful evaluation, CHLA selected Oracle Autonomous AI Database to support its business systems and has embarked on a long-term plan to move finance, HR, supply chain, and customer experience processes to Oracle Fusion Applications. "As part of our cloud modernization strategy, our main priorities are to enhance user experience, ensure our data is accessible, usable, safe, and trusted, and optimize resource usage," said Conrad Band, senior vice president and chief information officer, Children's Hospital Los Angeles. "Oracle Autonomous AI Database on OCI provides a secure foundation for our core business systems, improves the user experience, and automates daily database management tasks. This platform and Oracle Fusion Applications will enable us to take advantage of the latest AI capabilities embedded in workflows so we can respond swiftly to evolving patient needs and continue setting the standard for excellence in pediatric healthcare." Oracle Customer Success Services assisted CHLA with its migration to Oracle Autonomous AI Database and provides full lifecycle management to automate system upgrades, disaster recovery, and patching. This helps to protect critical business data from known security vulnerabilities and maintain regulatory compliance across its core systems that support employee and patient records. As a result, CHLA's IT team can keep pace with evolving business practices, compliance rules, data growth, and technological advancements. "Healthcare organizations face significant challenges to quickly modernize, often due to lean IT teams managing competing priorities," said Jenny Tsai-Smith, senior vice president, Overall Database Product Management, Oracle. "Children's Hospital Los Angeles is an example of a forward-thinking organization that is using Oracle Autonomous AI Database on OCI to deliver top-notch application performance and create a secure, highly available, and scalable backbone as it plans a migration to our industry-leading Oracle Fusion Applications." With Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), CHLA will automate financial management and reporting to increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve controls. Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) will help improve the employee experience, expand workforce insights, and enhance workforce management, while Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM) will support a more efficient and resilient supply chain. Finally, Oracle Fusion Cloud Customer Experience will enable more personalized customer engagement to improve service and the patient experience. Additional Resources
