ALGHERO, Italy, Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- A leading global tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook), the exclusive tire supplier to the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), is set for the final round of the season, Rally Italia Sardegna, taking place from October 1 to 4 around Alghero on the island of Sardinia, Italy.
Now in its 23rd edition, Rally Italia Sardegna is a historic gravel event. With Rally Saudi Arabia, originally scheduled as the final round, removed from the WRC calendar, the Italian contest will close out the 2026 season. As the Drivers' Championship will be decided here, strategies for tackling demanding roads and unpredictable October weather, along with tire performance, are expected to play a crucial role. The rally comprises 17 Special Stages (SS) covering approximately 307.02 competitive kilometers on unpaved roads. Narrow, winding sections bordered by trees and undergrowth, together with blind crests, limit visibility and leave little room for error. The route also features Micky's Jump, one of the event's best-known sections, alongside deep ruts formed by repeated runs and rough rocky stretches. These elements place high demands on tire durability and vehicle stability, making consistent control a key factor throughout the rally. Hankook will supply the Dynapro R213, its all-terrain rally tire, in Hard and Soft compounds to support teams through the season-ending event. The tire is designed to absorb impacts from gravel while providing stable grip and precise handling and robust durability across demanding stages. At Round 12, Rally Chile Biobío, Toyota GAZOO Racing World Rally Team's Oliver Solberg claimed his second victory of the year following his win at Rallye Monte-Carlo. The result secured Toyota the 2026 Manufacturers' Championship, marking the team's sixth consecutive title since 2021 and its 10th overall. With the manufacturers' crown decided, the Drivers' Championship will be settled at Rally Italia Sardegna. Hankook demonstrates its world-class motorsport technology as the exclusive rally tire supplier across all WRC classes. By actively leveraging extensive driving data accumulated across approximately 70 motorsport competitions worldwide, including the WRC, in its research and development (R&D), the company drives innovation in high-performance tire technology while strengthening its competitiveness as a global top-tier brand.
