45,000-square-foot destination will anchor comprehensive health & wellness offerings within landmark redevelopment while expanding Life Time's presence across Greater Boston BOSTON, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Life Time, (NYSE: LTH), the nation's premier healthy lifestyle brand, today announced plans to open a new athletic club and social wellness destination at Commonwealth Pier in late 2027. The club will be Life Time's eighth in the Greater Boston market since debuting in 2015 and will bring its distinctive healthy way of life ecosystem to one of the country's most dynamic waterfront neighborhoods. Located in Boston's Seaport District, the approximately 45,000-square-foot destination will overlook Boston Harbor and occupy a prominent location within Commonwealth Pier, the historic waterfront property reimagined by Pembroke as a vibrant mixed-use destination featuring premier office, retail, hospitality and cultural experiences. Pembroke has transformed the historic pier into an iconic destination designed to foster connection with the waterfront, the Seaport neighborhood and the city's rich history and culture. "The opportunity to introduce Life Time to the Seaport neighborhood makes Commonwealth Pier especially compelling as we look for locations where we can have the greatest impact on how people live," said Parham Javaheri, Executive Vice President, President Real Estate and Chief Property Development Officer. "We're excited to create an athletic club with fitness, wellness and social spaces and experiences that reflect the character and rhythm of the neighborhood and feel distinctly connected to Boston." Life Time's architecture and design team is creating a destination that maximizes its first waterfront setting with dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass windows, soaring 40-foot ceilings and panoramic views of Boston Harbor. Once open, members will enjoy one of the most distinctive environments in the company's growing Boston portfolio, complete with Life Time's exclusive boutique studio formats and classes, dynamic personal training, a co-ed rejuvenation wet suite featuring sauna, warm and cold thermal experiences, and recovery-focused amenities designed to support overall well-being, performance and healthy aging. It will also feature a LifeCafe and bar. "We are thrilled to welcome Life Time to Commonwealth Pier and bring its distinctive approach to health, wellness and community to Boston's waterfront," said Kristan McLaughlin, Director, Customer Experience and Asset Operations, Pembroke. "What is particularly exciting is the opportunity to extend that impact beyond Life Time's membership through free public fitness programming and broader community partnerships. Together with Life Time and the Museum of American Finance, we also look forward to exploring programming with Boston Public Schools that supports student enrichment across both mind and body." Originally opened in 1913 as the largest pier building in the Northeast and later home to the Seaport World Trade Center, Commonwealth Pier has played an important role on Boston's waterfront for more than a century. Pembroke's redevelopment preserves that history while introducing a new mix of office, dining, retail, cultural and public spaces, including a revitalized Harborwalk that reconnects the property with Boston Harbor. Life Time entered the Boston market in 2015 with the opening of Life Time Westwood, and today operates additional destinations in Burlington, Chestnut Hill, Framingham, Medford, and Peabody and, most recently The Prudential Center, which opened in October 2025. The addition of Commonwealth Pier further strengthens Life Time's presence in some of Greater Boston's most vibrant and desirable communities. Atlantic Retail's Peter Considine and Sean Gildea represented Life Time in the transaction. Graffito's Dave Downing and Angela VanArsdale represented Pembroke in this transaction. A waitlist has been established for those interested in learning more and having the opportunity to join as members. Further information will be announced in the coming months.
