All Bets Are Off: Attorney General Bonta Shuts Down Illegal Gambling Ring in Solano County
OAKLAND — California Attorney General Rob Bonta today announced the results of an illegal gambling bust at a Solano County business. On October 21, 2026, the California Department of Justice (DOJ) seized three illegal multi-player gambling machines in addition to arresting three individuals present at the illegal gambling location.
“Thanks to the hard work and vigilance of our local law enforcement partners and DOJ special agents, we have proven that illegal gambling and criminal activity of any sort will not be tolerated in California. All gaming must be conducted legally and transparently, with no exceptions,” said Attorney General Bonta. “Let this operation serve as a lesson to not bet against the California Department of Justice. If you do, your luck will run out, and when it does, we will not hesitate to prosecute you to the full extent of the law.”
In July 2026, DOJ received a credible tip from the Vallejo Police Department (VPD) that there were illegal gambling establishments operating in the City of Vallejo. Investigators from DOJ’s Bureau of Gambling Control (BGC) reviewed the information and decided to take the lead on the investigation. In a joint effort, DOJ directed the operation and prepared the search warrant, while VPD's SWAT team executed the service of the search warrant. All charges will be filed with the Solano County District Attorney's Office.
BGC’s responsibility is to ensure that gambling in California is conducted honestly, competitively, and free from criminal and corruptive elements. When those requirements are not being met by businesses and/or individuals, it is BGC’s job to step in and uphold the law.
It is important to note that a criminal indictment contains charges that are only allegations against a person. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
