ICE removes convicted drug trafficker to Pakistan
PHILADELPHIA – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement removed Amal Said, a citizen of Pakistan and convicted international drug trafficker with a final order of removal, to Pakistan March 5.
"The extradition, conviction and removal of Amal Said, demonstrates the collaborative, whole of government approach that ICE supports in protecting the citizens of the U.S.” said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Brian McShane. "Our dedicated officers and partners in law enforcement have worked tirelessly to ensure such dangerous individuals are brought to justice and then removed from the United States.”
U.S. Customs and Border Protection paroled Said into the United States at New York for prosecution.
The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York convicted Said of international narcotics conspiracy and attempted international distribution of heroin and sentenced him to 131 months of incarceration.
ICE encountered Said at Federal Correctional Institution Loretto on Aug. 8, 2023, served him with a notice and order of expedited removal, and lodged an immigration detainer with the facility.
Said was arrested and detained by ICE upon release from the institution and remained in ICE custody throughout removal proceedings.
